Choo choo or beeep beeep beeep! You get it all with the Caterpillar tractor and train set by Toy State. This sweet little train set pulled into the Talking Dad station last week and its been a smash ever since. The Cat Iron Diesel Train comes in a small package, but it’s packed (15 pieces total) with train cars, tracks, and working tractors.
The Train
The train is battery operated (2 AA’s) and motorized by the lead car, a modern diesel chugger. The Cat-yellow lead car pulls 3 additional cars and briskly travels along 7 feet of plastic track. The track snaps together really snug and can be configured in a number of layouts, it’s all very light weight and manageable for small hands. Professor Pal stuck with a traditional oval configuration that fit nicely on his exam table.
The Tractors
My little contractor/conductor’s favorite part of the playset turned out to be the working Cat tractors and construction parts. The playset includes a front loader and dump truck, both carried on the transport car. The buckets on both of the included tractors are posable, adding additional value and playtime scenarios to this package. The next car features a cargo bed and pivoting crane. The crane can move its cargo from train to job site in a snap. The cargo crane received the bulk of the Professor’s attention! The final car is a “dump truck”, it can easily transport your construction materials (or in our case, blocks).
