MGM acquires Robert C. O’Brien’s classic children’s book Mrs. Frisby & The Rats of Nimh.
“An imperiled mouse protagonist befriends a comical crew of lab rats as they turn hyper-intelligent. They escape a secret laboratory and become the great minds of vermin civilization, forced to outwit the humans hot on their tails.”
Michael Berg, the writer behind Ice Age 5, has been hired to pen Nimh, with the studio planning a live-action and CG animated hybrid adaption.
You might remember the material was first adapted by ex-Disney animator/producer Don Bluth. His film, The Secret of NIMH received moderate box office success, but later became a cult-classic on children’s home video. I loved this movie as a child and I couldn’t wait to show it to my children.
Are you a fan of NIMH? Are you excited about this news?
