Sandusky’s Ghostly Manor thrills visitors of all ages!

When zombies hit the road for vacation, they are interested in one thing – big thrills! Brains are always good too….

A few weeks ago upon a midnight dreary, I was liquifying brain food for the baby, when suddenly I heard a rapping. There was someone tapping upon my chamber door. A raven delivered an invitation to load up the family and visit Ghostly Manor Thrill Center in Sandusky, OH. We accepted the invite from the generous staff of Ghostly Manor and planned a fantastic vacation to our neighbor state. I imagine “the living” would complete the road trip to Sandusky from Detroit in under 3 hours….but “walkers” will nevermore have that luxury.

Attracting nearly seven million visitors yearly, the Lake Erie Shores and Islands are one of the top vacation destinations in the Midwest. With attractions as diverse as drive-thru zoos, the worlds greatest coasters, to one of the scariest Haunted Houses ever imagined, the area appeals to many travelers. I encourage my readers to check here to discover the area attractions for yourself. A top billing Sandusky attraction and recipients of multiple travel accolades is the Ghostly Manor Thrill Center, located only a few short minutes from Cedar Point in the heart of Sandusky.

Lindsay stole the show as she skated circles around us newbies. Ash and I escaped the rink and hit the arcade. Ghostly Manor has those awesome mini-bowling allies, skee ball, first-person shooters and modern arcade games based off popular iPhone apps.

Ghostly Manor recently expanded their building, adding a huge birthday party area and to Asher’s delight, an assortment of Jump Houses. The Manor has quite a selection of moon jumps, big slides and obstacle courses that Asher could have spent a few hours on (he’s an aficionado)! Coming soon to Ghostly Manor is a brand new state-of-the-art indoor playground structure.

One attraction we could not resist and highly recommend is Wizard’s Journey! This adventure-based 3D putt-putt course pits you against a menace dragon. The Wizard’s Journey spans multiple black light 3D holes that add a challenging new dimension to the game. The game was so engaging and full of innovation that we stopped keeping score after a few holes, just so we could fully appreciate the fun and eye-popping visuals.

Ghostly Manor also offers the areas fastest and only virtual coaster! There’s hardly a height requirement and waiting in long lines are a thing of the past thanks to the XD Theater. There are many coaster adventures to choose from, but the Talking Dad and Professor Pal recommend the Canyon Coaster or Haunted Mine.

So how about that haunted house? My personal highlight of the day was the haunt. Not recommended for children under the age of 10, this attraction has received numerous awards and has garnered the attention of the top travel sites in the nation. The best part – Ghostly Manor features minimal gore and no Satanic material. This haunt is all about uncomfortable space, an eerie atmosphere and things that go BOO! If you’re a die hard haunted house fan, check back again in October when the Manor opens up an additional four haunted houses to celebrate the wicked season!

I highly recommend the Thrill Pass as it features every attraction for $25. Of course, you can always pick and choose via a la carte. The fun begins at noon daily. Coming September 14, 2013 is Ghostly Manor’s first ever Zombie Mud Run! This epic event will feature a 5K run through muddy terrain with many obstacles and zombies along the way.
